There is a lot you can do to help your child or the young person;

  • Make sure your child / young person has some time for fun as well.
  • Contact us at 'Young and Unique' or another local Young Carers Project/Forum, which will offer activities, breaks and someone to talk to, as well as giving you the advice and information you need in confidence. Alternatively contact your local youth service or social worker, who may be able to help.
  • Email the ‘Young and Unique’ team staff1@manchestercarersforum.org.uk

Make a referral for a young carer's assessment

Young People / Carer's may be referred to 'Young and Unique' by a number of agencies/projects, including statutory, voluntary and self-referral.

If you know a young carer who requires support, a referral can be made in any of the following ways;

  • Telephone Rochelle Jones - Young Carers Development Worker on 0161 629 9859
  • Fill in our 'Young and Unique' Membership / Referral form with the young person, found in our 'Young and Unique' information pack and submit to us.
  • Make a personal visit to our office and speak to the 'Young and Unique' Young Carers Team.
  • Email Rochelle Jones - rochelle@manchestercarersforum.org.uk and make a referral for a young carers assessment.

Rochelle will then take the referral details to her monthly meeting with the other Young Carer Assessment Workers, for the referral to be allocated and a visit will be made.

If suitable the young carer will then be able to access the support available - 'Young and Unique' and '24/7 Young Carer's Project' and individual therapeutic work/treatments will be recommended or undertaken if required.
