'Young and Unique' works jointly with Brenda Norford from the Manchester 24/7 Young Carer's Project and Christine Fisher who is the Young Carer's Social Worker, to undertake a Young Carer's Assessment Service across the City of Manchester.
In order to join 'Young and Unique' and/or Manchester's 24/7 Young Carer's Project a Young Carer's Assessment must be carried out. The assessments identify what services you need for yourself and to help you look after the person you care for. An assessment helps you to discover what your own needs are as a young carer and how these could be best met. It involves a worker arranging to visit your home, where you will discuss your caring role, be listened to and your views will be taken into account.. We can arrange support/help for the person you are caring for and support for you as a young carer so that you can improve the quality of your life.
An assessment is not a test; it is a way to find out what you do to help and how you feel about caring.
